Usage of Average Speed safety Camera

How do they work ?

average speed camera

Average speed calculation camera  Is one form of point to point speed detection. It involves measuring the time taken by a particular  vehicle to travel between two camera points. An image of every vehicle is captured by the first camera, together with a record of the time when the image is taken.

The second camera repeats that process. The average speed of the vehicle is calculated by dividing the distance between the cameras by the time taken for the vehicle to travel between the sites. This calculation is matched with average requirement and if it falls below then the particular vehicle driver is found to have excdeeded the speed limit and comitted a speeding offence.

These cameras are In use Interstate and are to be Installed In Adelaide soon.
